Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - The unemployment rate in Switzerland crept up in June by 0.2 percent, or 6,474 persons, for a total of 198,990 receiving unemployment benefits.
The latest figures from Seco (Secretariat for the Economic Affairs) show that unemployment is 37.7 percent higher than it was in June 2008. Figures for partial unemployment in April, the most recent available, show that 569 more companies turned to this widely-used alternative to reduce working hours temporarily. The number of companies now using partial unemployment is 2,712, compared to just 93 in April 2008.
