Cardiff, Wales, UK (GenevaLunch) – England just survived to seize a draw in the First Test of the series, and the first to be played in Wales. Australia dominated most of the match with a massive 674-6 in response to England’s 435.
The England second innings started badly as the top order collapsed to 70-5 but Collingwood refused to go down and batted most of the day before eventually falling for 74. This meant that it was up to James Anderson and Monty Panesar to hold the final line of defence. They managed to survive till close of play, passing the Australian first innings total to end on 252-9.
