Watching the lake vista unfold in front of us, I think, the festival setting truly is spectacular.
After getting stranded in Montreux early Tuesday morning – beware of the early morning public transport gap between 01:08 and 05:14 – I decided to try driving. The verdict?
Lausanne-bound traffic out of Geneva not bad at 18:00, slow-downs at Nyon and outside of Lausanne, total travel time from Geneva to Montreux including the lake road detour, approximately 1.5 hours. The traffic routing once in Montreux is excellent! Circulation through town is limited and we were immediately ushered to a no-charge parking space on the side of the road, about a 1 km walk from the centre of town.
Check your train schedule, but if traveling with company, the car may not be a bad option. If you have extra room in your car, be sure to check out car-share or covoiturage arrangements courtesy of Klaxonne (and register to win a pair of Prince tics!).
