Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – The inaugural run of the new, ultra-sleek Cisalpino II trains that link Geneva to Milan, Italy via Lausanne, saw the high-speed train journey from Lausanne to Sion. The ride itself was easy compared to the latest problems faced by the company. Cisalpino was under threat of losing its contract with the Swiss rail company CFF early in 2009 because of breakdowns and delays.
Now it turns out that the beautiful new train is too light for the train to be able to use the new Gotthard tunnel, currently under construction and scheduled to be operational in 2017. The new trains have already caused heated debate between the two rail companies because of a two-year delay in delivering them.
Le Temps carries a lengthy feature story that looks closely at the technical issues.

good morning,
I’m travelling from Zurich to Milano frequently.
I’m a Railroad fan, I pronounce.
I have no other choice than to board a Cisalpino Train
in Zurigo or Milano.
I’m NOT surprised – that the Toilet will not flush.
trying to wash my hands – again, there is no water running.
the employees in the coffee bar are not too friendly.
I avoid the restautant car all together.
I’m lucky to catch the connecting train in Milano.
it is – what is
receive greetings from New Mexico
