Mugello, Italy (GenevaLunch) - Michael Schumacher, seven-time Formula 1 Champion has abandoned his comeback as replacement driver for Felipe Massa in the Ferrari team for the European Grand Prix to be held in Valencia, Spain.
Schumacher reported on his website that he was not able to deal with neck pains while training at the Mugello circuit in Italy. Swiss-based Schumacher, who scored a record 91 victories in his 250 Grand Prix races, injured his neck in a motorbike accident in February, says that the neck could not stand up to the extreme stresses of F1 racing. Some commentators, such as Eddie Jordan, have suggested that this might not be the only reason and speculated that he would not be willing to race unless he felt he could win.
