Premier League(GenevaLunch) – Newly promoted Burnley celebrated their first home game in the top division by beating current champions Manchester United 1-0. Man United were appalling, with a much weakened defense in the absence of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, while Michael Owen was completely out of touch at the front and was substituted in the second half.
Burnley scored with a superb volley by Robbie Blake while Man United had a penalty by Michael Carrick that was saved by the goalkeeper.
Tottenham moved to the top of the League as they crushed Hull 1-5 with a hat-trick by Jermain Defoe. Liverpool bounced back from their defeat in the opening game to crush Stoke 4-0. Chelsea are second in the table, behind Spurs on goal difference.

Michael Owen was not out of touch. He kept possesion of the ball excellent, He played the pass to win the penalty. And his chances to score. The first from a cross, there was a big deflection on the cross and the ball went away from him.
The second again from a cross, the ball was slightly to high for his head to make proper contact. Its only Owens third competitive game for man united which people seem to forget yet most of the blame for them losing is being put on him.
