Thanks for allowing this discussion. Have the particular (?) of being a Swiss national by marriage for more than 40 years. Living actually in France. Have always maintained US nationality and filled in tax reports.
Now contemplating going back to US. However properties paid by working life to be sold. Family house to go back to and elderly brother who needs me.
Contemplating going back as a Swiss citizen to avoid having to delapidate money invested in the fore-mentioned two properties. My (Swiss) husband will no doubt stay in Switzerland. Is there a lawyer out there who could advise me whether giving up my American citizenship and going back as Swiss (in my elderly non-working retired state) seems a reasonable solution ? As for money from properties would put in trust or other foundation etc.
