Bienne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Switzerland’s watch industry is still not out of the woods, and its exports for October are down for the 13th consecutive month. Swiss watch makers exported CHF1.3 billion worth of watches in October, down 22.7 percent compared to the same month last year, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) reported Thursday 19 October.

Switzerland exported CHF10.57b worth of watches in the first 10 months of the year, 25.5 percent less than in the first 10 months of 2008. Its best market continues to be Hong Kong which buys 17.4 percent of Swiss watches exported, followed by the USA with a 10.9 percent share of the export market.

FH represents 209 Swiss watch companies.
