Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – A violent crash between a Lamborghini Murcielago and a Volkswagen on the Route de Lausanne at Genthod late Thursday 19 November sent the Volkswagen driver to hospital with a concussion. No one else was injured. An eyewitness to the accident told 20Minutes that several expensive sports cars seemed to be involved in a high-speed race along the stretch of the Route de Lausanne between the roundabout at Creux de Genthod and the entry to Versoix.
The Volkswagen was not participating, and turned over several times when hit by the Lamborghini, before coming to rest.

Who is this Russian?
tell their names in TV News… It’s interesting
Why does the police not name them?! Isn’t it a secret?

Swiss police don’t issue names of suspects, people arrested, etc. because you’re not guilty until proven so. All they’ve officially said is that the driver of one car was a 22-year-old Russian, driving a white Lamborghini Murcielago and that he crashed into the Golf in front of him, driven by a 70-year-old German woman, who had to be cut out of her car. No word about other drivers, who the Russian or his passenger were.

Russians rule!:)

Not “russians”, but money rule.
And one more: if from Russia – doesn’t mean “russian”. Mostly just not “russian”

Agree with the previous comment.
Similar accidents involving some stupid bunch of riches have become quite frequent in Russia. You have lots of money to spend on a Lamborghini but no brain to think about the potential consequence. Money rules, indeed.

It’s very interesting to know their names. Ladies and gentlemen help us to know the ugly truth about their Russian parents.

russians are wild barbarian

Ladies and gentlemen Does anyone know the name of this Russian? Why do about it no one says?

Read our update, please: Geneva police will not release the names of any of the young Russians involved, which is normal in Switzerland until those charged with crimes are found guilty, to ensure they get a fair hearing. We might all be outraged, but what if we’re outraged over incorrect information appearing in the media?

As it’s said in Russian media, two sons of Russian such-named New businessman [name deleted] were detained and questioned by the police as witnesses. After that procedure they were released and immediately left Geneve for Turkey.
”Hero of the occasion” is the son of Russian high-ranking official and his name is still under secret.

Under Swiss law, names of those suspected, accused, tried, sentenced, as well as witnesses, cannot be published unless the individual is extremely well known in Switzerland. This is a federal data protection and privacy act. So I’ve deleted the names from your comment for that reason, but also because there is an enormous amount of unconfirmed rumour flying around about this story, a lot of speculation and misinformation.

No, I’m afraid those are not witnesses, but police and other emergency vehicles/workers at the scene. I checked again with the police: there were no witnesses to the accident itself, and the man who was hit, in the Golf, is too badly injured at the moment to be interviewed.

Dear Ellen! Names of my comment are widely discussed in Russian mass media now, and believe me as a citizen of Russia – percentage of truth is very high. I think no need to delete the real names of participants.
Also in the previous comments it’s said that woman was inside VW… Is it right?
November 24th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
I’m afraid I don’t have any choice but to delete the names, even if they are widely reported in Russia, and even if they turn out to be entirely accurate. Under Swiss law, names of everyone involved in a court case must remain private: I don’t have the legal right to publish them. The law was, of course, written before the Internet meant people can just go to a Russian site if it’s not on a Swiss site. As for accuracy, one of the big problems with this or any other story is journalists just picking up their information from other web sites, without doublechecking. So inaccurate stories tend to become more believable just because they are published by more media. Police did initially infer the VW had a woman driving, but it was quickly corrected: the driver is a 70-year-old man, German, longtime Geneva resident.

All drivers are not russian! Look at least at their names. All of them are azers (nat.) and muslims (rel.).
Poor russians and poor europeans. Everybody here thinks: if from former USSR – always “wild russians”.
Take a map, find Azerbaijan and find Russia. No one in Europe wants to know that Russia and russians suffer from these dirty so called “russians”.
Please, never call such guests of your country as “russians”, that is absolutely incorrect and hurts real russians.

Dear Ellen! Names of participants now are widely discussed everyvere. Are you insist on keeping silence about their names?
November 25th, 2009 at 11:03 am
Everywhere does not include Switzerland: maybe you missed my comment that we cannot legally mention any names. Even the Tribune de Geneve talks about the sons of “I.” but they have not been given this by the police, just from media outside Switzerland.
