Food grown by West Bank Israeli settlements will carry “Israeli settlement produce” or “Palestinian produce” labels in the UK, based on new government guidelines issued Thursday 11 December. Produce from the area has until now shown as the origin “Israel” or “West Bank.” The Israeli settlements are illegal under international law, a point Israel does not accept, and the UK government says in its decision that the settlements are a problem in reaching a peace agreement for the region.
