Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – This is it folks: snow is coming down, even on the edge of Lake Geneva, which means you can count on it in the Swiss and French Alps. Head outdoors this weekend and remind yourself why you are in Switzerland. Snow on the slopes is still thin except at high altitudes, but snow canons are now in use in most resorts, so the slopes are open.
Weather forecast
Snow off and on throughout the region over the weekend and at the start of the week, with chilly temperatures: highs of -2C and -12C at 2,000 metres. Pull out the warm gloves and hats. MeteoSwiss
Consider Coop’s SuperCard ski cards
Coop has introduced a SuperCard points special ski card with readable chip that can be used at your choice of ski resorts. If you’re a cardholder, check out their site for details.
Jura report, from Shirley Curran
As predicted, snow has fallen steadily this week and temperatures in the Jura dropped so that we are now regularly below zero. This was just what was needed to get the snow making machinery into action and it has been working steadily all week to make up for the lack of snow in late November. The cover on our slopes is not deep but it looks as though we are all set to go on Saturday 19th – the start of a season that should last until April. Here is a link to add to my last week’s top tip. You will appreciate the vin chaud in these sub-zero temperatures. Enjoy the slopes!
