Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Up to CHF10,000 per year in contributions to a political cause, donations, and political party memberships fees will be deductible from personal federal income tax from 2011, the Federal Department of Finance announced 22 December.
The cantons will have two years from the date the new law comes into force to establish deductible amounts on cantonal taxes. The law applies only to physical persons, not companies.
The law was approved by parliament in June 2009 by a large majority.
