Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Travelers’ woes in Geneva continued Sunday 10 January, when Cointrin Airport closed for six hours, the longest closure in 25 years, thanks to snow. The airport is now open again, after 10cm of snow was removed.
Some 70 flights were delayed or canceled, but traffic remains uncertain due to snowfall in other parts of Europe that is affecting air traffic.
Geneva schools re-open after the holidays Monday 11 January, making this one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. The previous weekend saw chaos at the airport when thousands of bags were misplaced due to an unexpected baggage workers’ strike, coupled with post-New Year’s vacation travel.
