Zurich, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – “Inside Switzerland”, which was started in 2007 as a glossy Swiss-wide magazine providing news and features in English, has ceased publication of both the quarterly print magazine and its online newsletter. The magazine was published by Schweizer and Davies Media in Zurich, which was founded by Jennifer Davies and Sabine Schweizer.
Davies is an arts presenter on World Radio Switzerland.
Editor-in-chief Schweizer notes in her letter to readers that the publication “has not been able to withstand current financial pressures.”
The quarterly print publication sold for CHF35 for four issues before it folded.

I think they would still be able to continue as an online newsletter as opposed to print which costs a lot of money, especially for glossy etc. Their content was quite good, but there isn’t a lot of need to spend money on print when so much of the content is already online. Too bad they’ve gone off completel.

A key cost for anyone producing a quality publication is the labour, whether you’re doing print, online, broadcast. GenevaLunch, for example, manages because we are a group of volunteer journalists who believe there is a news for quality reporting in English in Switzerland. If we were all paid we would need a significant amount of sponsorship or advertising.
