Wembley, London (GenevaLunch) - Wayne Rooney came off the substitutes bench  to score the winner in the League Cup final against Aston Villa. Villa went ahead in the 4th minute with a penalty after Nemanja Vidic fouled Gabriel Agbanlahor. Vidic was lucky not to be sent off.

Michael Owen, in one of his rare starts, hit back in the 14th minute but later left the field after injuring his hamstring chasing for another chance. Wayne Rooney was brought on and combined well with Valencia to score the second goal for Manchester United.

In the other Sunday  games Tottenham beat Everton 2-1, Liverpool beat Blackburn 2-1 and Sunderland against Fulham ended 0-0.

It was fantastic. Wayne Rooney is in his best form. I wish him success. It’s a record not to be forgotten so easily.
