Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - A woman was killed when several cars hit her on the A9 autoroute  Wednesday 10 March, shortly after midnight, near Villeneuve in the direction of Lausanne. Police are asking witnesses to phone them: +41 21 644 44 44.

The woman had a very high alcohol level of 2.40/1,000 when she was taken as a victim to the hospital in Montreux following a domestic incident. Police had been called at 21:30 on the emergency number 117 to an apartment block in Vevey, where a man and woman were fighting; she had slight injuries to one hand and was treated at the Montreux hospital, then released.

Police drove her to the regional intervention centre in Rennaz.

The woman, under age 40 and resident  in Vevey but a citizen of Bosnia-Herzegovina, had suddenly walked away from the centre while she was waiting to be taken in charge. Police began a search for her, but she had already gone onto the autoroute, where she was hit several times. Her body was found shortly after 23:00 and the autoroute was closed until 04:30 for the investigation.

Police are particularly interested in talking to anyone who may have seen the woman shortly before she was killed, or anyone who may have been directly involved in the accident.
