Nigeria’s stand-in President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed his entire cabinet without giving a reason, a month after he was given the power to run the country. Jonathan was vice-president and his power to rule was confirmed after President Umaru Yar’Adua spent three months in hospital in Saudi Arabia. He has since returned to Nigeria but is not well enough to take up his job again. Jonathan will now be given lists of candidates for the cabinet by governors of the country’s states, from which he will select a short list, to be approved by the senate.
