Zurich, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – The ethics committee for the International football federation, Fifa, handed down what is being widely referred to as “strong sanctions” against those investigated for alleged bribery and corruption.
Six Fifa officials received fines ranging from CHF5,000 to CHF10,000 and were banned from participating in any football-related activities for a period of one to four years.
Amos Adamu of Nigeria and Reynald Temarii of France and Tahiti were banned from taking part in any football-related activity (administrative, sports or other) after their cases were heard in October 2010 in relation to the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 Fifa World Cups. Temarii is a Fifa vice-president.
The new sanctions extended their suspensions. Adamu was suspended for three years and was fined CHF10,000. Temarii was suspended for one year and fined CHF5,000.
Fifa in a statement announced that three officials have been suspended for periods from two to four years, all with CHF10,000 fines in addition. They are banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level:
- Slim Aloulou, chairman of the Fifa dispute resolution chamber and member of the Fifa players’ status committee, two year ban
- Ahongalu Fusimalohi, general secretary of the Tonga FA, three year ban
- Amadou Diakite, member of the Fifa referees committee, three year ban

Well done to the Ethics Committee – this Reynald Temarii is the most corrupt of them all. He is a . . . tyrant ruling with an iron fist. He bullies the small island nations and focusses only on New Zealand where they are the power horse of the Oceania region therefore all the other smaller island nations receive nothing. He is the biggest hypocrite out there and he uses his relationship with President Blatter to manipulate and scare the small island nations who fear him. Temarii has hidden accounts where FIFA funding goes in to and he charges Oceania Football Confederation for the same invoices of which the worst thing is that the OFC staff people know about but are too scared to do anything. Good ridence to Temarii – Oceania needs a good leader.
