Flushing Meadow, NY, USA – The lineup for the fourth round of the men’s US Open tennis tournament is an all-star list, with Swiss Roger Federer facing off against Juan Monaco from Argentina, Andy Murray from Britain playing Donald Young from the US and Spain’s Rafa Nadal up against Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller.

Novak Djokovic, Serbia, plays Alexandr Dolgopolov, Ukraine, at 11:00 New York time and Federer plays Monaco at 19:00 New York time Monday.

Melbourne, Australia (GenevaLunch) – Roger Federer escaped a tough first hour of play to suddenly take over his match with Nicolay Davydenko to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5. Federer now moves into the semi-finals of the Australian Open, setting another record, for playing in more Grand Slam semi-finals than any player in tennis history. The win also assures him his number one place, which had been under threat from Novak Djokovic.

Basel, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - World number one Roger Federer eased past his fellow Basel player Marco Chiudinelli (ATP rank, 73) after a difficult first set in the semi-finals of the Basel tournament. He won 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 against his much improved friend.

Andy Murray will not be playing in the Shanghai Open, he announced 8 October. The British tennis player is recovering from a strained wrist and, although it is nearly healed, he is likely to not play again until Valencia, Spain 2 November. His withdrawal leaves Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro leading the pack at the Shanghai tournament.

Basel, Switzerland/Flushing Meadows, NY, USA (GenevaLunch) – It’s being called the “best point in tennis history” and thousands are flocking to a Eurosport Live clip on YouTube to see Roger Federer do it during the semi-finals of the US Open. From Federer’s web pages: “The most amazing moment of the semi-final was clearly Roger’s forehand hit between the legs which he swatted past an amazed Djokovic into the empty part of the court. ‘I practice them a lot actually but they never work,’ Roger said. ‘That’s why I guess it was the greatest shot I ever hit in my life.’ Having seen a TV replay himself, he commented ‘That’s unbelievable!’ His magical shot brought up a match point for Roger.”

Updated 09:30  Rome, Italy (GenevaLunch) - Rafa Nadal won the Italian Open for the fourth time when he beat Novak Djokovic 7-6 6-2 in the final. Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the semi. Melbourne, Australia (GenevaLunch) – Roger Federer survived his fourth round  despite losing the first two sets to Tomas Berdych. The tall Czech overpowered Federer but the Swiss star dug deep and fought hard for every point as the Czech started to tire.
