Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Commuters who leave their cars on streets in Grand Lancy and Chêne-Bourg for the day while they go to work are likely to find that option disappearing by the end of 2010, or in the case of Grand Lancy, sooner, reports the Tribune de Genève. The city of Geneva is currently the only commune in canton Geneva to sell its citizens monthly parking disks, known as macarons, which allow them to leave their cars on the street for indefinite periods
Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - A man, 62, turned a gun on his 17 year-old daughter early morning 27 August and shot her, then turned the gun on himself in an apartment in the Geneva suburb of Grand-Lancy. Police were called, arrived quickly, and had to force the door, according to the police report. The man’s wife was not present at the time.
Geneva, Switzerland (Tribune de Geneve, Fre) – A fire broke out in a ground floor apartment in Grand-Lancy, Thursday 30 April. The flames in the stairwell trapped an adolescent on the second floor. A neighbour heard the cries and braved the smoke and heat to bring the young person to safety. Firefighters evacuated six people from the building. Three were admitted to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
