Longchamps, Paris, France (GenevaLunch) – Irish colt Sea the Stars scored an historic treble by winning the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe to add to wins at the 2000 Guineas in Newmarket and the Epsom Derby. The Irish Times commented that “Sea the Stars is unlike any horse we have seen before.” The three-year-old colt, owned by Christopher Tsui, trained by John Oxx and ridden by Mick Kinane, is likely to retire to stud at the end of the season as perhaps the greatest ever racing horse.

Paris, France (GenevaLunch) – The Aga Khan’s filly Zarkava triumphed in the richest race on turf when she won her seventh successive race at the $5.58 million at the Longchamp course. It is the first time a filly has won the race since 1993. Details, The Guardian
