GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – A man who had been sexually accosting, but without force, girls from 6 to 11 years old since 2002, has been behind bars since January, Geneva police announced Thursday. The 38-year-old has admitted to committing 60 sexual acts, usually asking the children for assistance to urinate and then masturbating.
The man, who lives in Ain, in France, operated mainly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in Versoix, Meyrin and Lignon. He was unknown to police on both sides of the border, which made it difficult to find him, despite a long investigation and traces of DNA left at some scenes. It was known that he drove a black 4×4, but it took new evidence after another crime committed in January, to track him down. He worked as a building manager.
GENEVA, SWTIZERLAND – Nine men, six from France and three from Switzerland, all drivers for a transport company in Meyrin, were arrested after their boss called in police at 13:00 Wednesday 15 June. He suspected that the men were stealing petrol from the company. Officers checked the cars of two employees leaving the site and found 20 litres of stolen petrol in the back of one and two jerrycans with 25 litres each in the back of another.
The men admitted that the practice has been going on for months and is widespread, but Geneva police have not said what they were doing with the petrol, if it was for personal use or re-sale.

Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Geneva’s tram lines 14 and 16 will go all the way to Meyrin starting 12 December with five new stops in the town of Meyrin itself. The city’s public transport company, TPG, says that its entire route network has been extended and the frequency of bus and tram services increased.
The fare zones have been changed, partly in anticipation of the joint venture with canton Vaud’s Mobilis fare cooperative starting in late 2010, which will allow a person to travel from Annemasse to Lausanne and beyond with a single ticket. TPG also announced that its call up service Taxibus will be cancelled.
Until 1995, the only tram was the 12 from Carouge to Bachet. From 1995, TPG began important extensions to the tram network which now covers 30km of routes.

Meyrin, Geneva (GenevaLunch) - The driver who died when her car caught fire late Sunday night in Meyrin has not been officially identified, while police await the results of an autopsy on the person they describe only as a 72-year-old woman. According to the Tribune de Geneve the driver was from Vaud, a musician who had just given a concert, followed by a small celebration, and she was heading home to Begnins.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear, with police saying she drove up onto a pedestrian area and into a post in the area between the town hall and the Forum Meyrin. For reasons not yet understood, she appears to have left her foot on the gas pedal while the car was blocked, causing the tires to explode and the fire to start.
