New York, NY (GenevaLunch) – The New York marathon men’s race was won by an American for the first time since 1982: Meb Keflezighi won in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 15 seconds, after pulling ahead of Kenyan Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot. British runner Paula Radcliffe’s dreams of winning the 2012 Olympics took a battering when she came in fourth after treatment for a two-week old tendinitis let her down in the 11th mile.

London, England (GenevaLunch) - Olympic champion Samuel Wanjiru won the London Marathon after the pace makers set a blistering pace  that broke up the field early on. Ethiopian Tsegay Kebede, bronze-medalist in Beijing, took second place while the Olympic silver-medal winner came in third. African runners took the top eight places.
