LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – The Tour de Romandie bicycle race gets underway Tuesday 24 April, with racers facing nearly 700 km run over the course of the six-day race and 8,800 metres of altitude differences.
Tuesday’s prologue takes the riders along the Ouchy quai in Lausanne towards Morges. The first race is Wednesday, from Morges to La Chaux-de-Fonds and it ends in Crans-Montana Sunday 29 April.
Vaud police are alerting motorists that traffic facing the oncoming race will be stopped and drivers will have to be patient while the race passes, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Areas affected:

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND -The Tour du Pays de Vaud cycling race runs from Thursday evening 26 May to Sunday and Vaud police are warning motorists that if they are on the routes as the race comes through they will have to pull over and wait it out.

Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Area roads around Lake Geneva will be blocked starting Thursday 29 April thanks to the Tour de Romandie bicycle race. Oncoming traffic will be stopped as the race approaches and Vaud police are asking drivers to use extra caution Thursday to Saturday, and to be prepared for road blocks. The race covers nearly 655 km, with 8,000 metres of difference in altitude.
The “prologue” to the race Tuesday resulted in three riders dropping out of the race after taking a fall: Joaquin Novoa, Chris Froome and Arkaliz Duran.

St Gotthard tunnel, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – The road between Lucerne and Chiasso near and including the Gotthard tunnel is closed in both directions because of roadworks, during the nights of 15-19 June from 20:00 to 05:00. Trucks are being held on either side of the tunnel starting at 19:30 and cars are being sent on a detour over the pass.

Valais, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – A woman is missing and a man was injured in an avalanche, with 25 people rescued during Monday night after two ski touring groups with guides were struck by an avalanche. One group of French skiers and another of Austrians were going from Argentière, France, near the Col de la Forclaz to Champex, Valais, Switzerland. Towards 17:00 two people, an Austrian man and a 30-year-old French woman, were caught by the avalanche.
