Thirty-three sketches and drawings made by Pablo Picasso from 1917-1924 were stolen from a first-floor unlocked case at the Picasso Museum in Paris, police announced Tuesday 9 June. The sketches are valued at $11 million and are believed to have disappeared between late Monday and early Tuesday. Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Police Tuesday arrested 22 people, Moldavians and Russians, in Lausanne, Pully and Geneva, for a series of thefts in the region. Fourteen men and eight women were arrested, aged 19-55. Four people were released at the end of the day.

A large quantity of stolen goods including four cars, were found. One car had been stolen the night before, according to police in Vaud. The theft ring has been based in three apartments in Lausanne and two in Geneva. Several police groups from the three cities worked together for a number of weeks to track the suspects.
