If you buy several books at Waterstone’s the salesperson offers you a couple half price. That is how Harriott Evans’ I Remember You came into my hands. It fits into the genre of Chick Lit, and was my first (and possibly last) venture into that genre. However, if you want an effortless read of a love story, this is for you.

Tess Tennant grows up with Adam and they share secrets and secret places, but Tess leaves for London and Adam fails to take his place in the world of brilliant scholars and stays in the village.

When Tess has lost her London job and is wondering whether she wishes to take up the post of classics teacher back in Langford, Adam comes into her life again. He is occupied with a new girlfriend and Tess is drawn into a romantic affair with a man she meets on an idyllic trip to Rome.

Cosmopolitan calls this ‘The perfect girly read’ and that is probably a perfect description of I Remember You.
