Lift07, which more than 500 people attended in February, confirmed that the Lake Geneva region is buzzing with entrepreneurial activity. Thursday evening a group of 35 start-up owners, some of them getting companies off the ground and others banking their fortunes made, met for dinner in Geneva to stir ideas. They were brought together by Lift founder Laurent Haug, who has been off in Seoul, South Korea, organizing another hot conference there.
My neighbour’s favourite new-project discussion: a prototype alarm system that goes off when your wallet or anything else valuable is stolen. Yes! My favourite discussion: Pierre Chappaz, co-CEO of Net Vibes (nearly 10 million users at last count), explaining why it took him so long, age 45, to retire, when he’d set his heart on retiring at 35. Now he just has fun.
GL was there as a Lift07 media sponsor and because, with 30 contributors in the community and more in the pipeline (and you have the option to comment) we are a variation on a web 2.0 company.
