I love to look at signs, but lawyers’ shingles rarely catch my attention. Dull, staid, conservative are words that usually come to mind with the legal business.

I was startled when I visited my lawyers last week to see their new sign on the building front. My trusty cell phone camera is old and mediocre, but here is what caught my eye. Forget the legal labels, the string of qualifications. They put the one thing most of us need these days, a web site address. I mentioned it to Quentin Byrne-Sutton, one of the partners and he said – not bothering to hide his excitement – "Wait until you see our web site next week!"

The site is up, I’ve had a look, and I love it, from the surprisingly workable red ink to the photos silently making statements about arbitration. Check it out. If the legal profession can use imagination in its daily life, so can the rest of us. This is a nice change from arguments about lawyers’ fees cartels.
