It’s tough for all of us to stay focused on the important issues, such as US and North Korean nuclear negotiations in Geneva, when the online media offer us such juicy tales as the background of Governor Spitzer’s prostitute, who says she doesn’t want to be seen as a monster. Fat chance, with the New York Times photos that appear under the headline. Question: wny not? We all make stupid mistakes at age 22, but we’re old enough to be responsible for them. If you get into a sleazy business, whether it’s prostitution or selling used cars that are lemons, at least be honest with yourself about what you’re doing there and why.
And then there’s Nouvo, telling us about Korean researchers who’ve found a way to make cats glow in the dark. Question: why? I can’t think of a single reason why this would be useful, except to mice. The answer presumably comes on the TSR1 show tonight at 22:45.
The most peculiar story of the day comes from Kansas, but oddly enough via Australia’s The Age, which dotes on this kind of weird story: the woman who was stuck on her boyfriend’s toilet for two years. Question: how? The answer appears to be: nobody knows, and when you start reading the details you begin to feel like you’re stepping into troubled lives and prying where you have no business. So while this may be the talk of the town, do any of us really need to know more? No. This question has a pretty clear answer, but I suspect few of us can resist the temptation to read the story.
