Simply the best news I’ve heard all day: one charger for all cell phones. 2012 sounds like a long way off, but three cheers for the world’s cell phone makers for finally getting us all plugging in together. According to CNet News they’re planning to make the charger use 50% of the energy required by today’s chargers. Now to get them running on solar and wind power, hmm. Anyone care to comment on how well solar chargers work right now?

Trouble is though millions of the chargers will be sold as spares, my nephew works for a huge UK mobile phone company. Says that a few hours after the newswires put the stories out their IT dept was desperatly trying to buy all the good website names on the subject, my nephew also said that selling the chargers as spares will be a whole new industry all of its own.. I read one UK phone company purchased one name related to universal chargers for £60000 UKP … if I am honest I must admit I would buy a spare as I am always forgetting to charge my mobile phone for work.. is this a green move by the phone companies…mhh I think not.
