Wild poppy, bee in the Swiss Alps, evening

The sun was slanting low and giving the poppies such a silky deep red that I didn’t have the heart to pull them up. They grow like weeds in every corner of my garden in the Alps and if I don’t weed now and again I won’t have anything except poppies next year! I was admiring the colour when I noticed a thirsty but dozy bee, in fact several, none of them moving too quickly.

The end of the day, the end of summer and unseasonally chilly temperatures: their slowness is a photographer’s advantage. (as with all GenevaLunch photos, you can see the large size if you click on the image)
