The largest second-hand children’s clothing and toys sale in Lake Geneva
Geneva, Switzerland – This is the mother of all second-hand sales in the Lake Geneva region.
Bikes, roller blades, camping- or snow-equipment, books in English for children and adults, video games, DVDs, toys, board games, strollers and top quality baby equipment, as well as clothing for children and women, can be found under one roof, twice a year in Geneva.
This is not for the faint of heart.
On sale day, would-be shoppers form a frenzied line stretching out the front door and around the block, waiting for the doors to open.
At 1 pm, the shopping craze begins.
The most experienced shoppers go directly for the things they want or need. Less experienced shoppers are bumped to and fro by the mass of people swarming around them.
Be a smart shopper at the sale
Doors always open at 13:00.
Those determined to get that 1,200-franc stroller for 200 francs, or the lowest-priced bikes, and the best DVDs should think of being there early.
However, if you do not like big crowds or go with small children, I recommend going a bit later. The volume of so many quality items is such that going around 15:00 will not make much difference, except that there will be a hundred or so less people than earlier on, and -probably- less strollers and bicycles.
A few additional tips:
- Bring a large, good quality, tear-proof bag to carry items around while shopping
- Sales are cash only, Euros are accepted (bills only)
- If you are going with small children, consider going later when the crowds thin out.
- Don’t bring strollers in if you go early
- Wear layers as it gets hot in the room
- The Organizing Committee arranges for pastries, beverages and light food items to be sold, so bring plenty of coins
Individuals directly benefit from selling their items, but between 10% to 30% of all proceeds are collected by the organizing committee which donates the funds to a charity following the sale.
