Is this the right pet for your child? It was for us!

Is this the right pet for your child? It was for us!

Geneva, Switzerland – Is your child set on getting a pet for Christmas? Some children might want an elephant, others a kitty, but which one is right for your child? Although as parents we might know which is the best option we could also leave it to them to find out if the animal of their dreams is the right kind of pet. That’s easy, all you need is the internet and a little bit of time.

The Swiss Federal Veterinary Office in partnership with private companies, has developed a website geared to help children determine which is the pet to best suit their personality.

Pas si bete, or loosely translated, not-so-wild, seeks to educate kids on the type of responsibility they will be assuming if they become pet owners.

Children can look up their favorite animal, take a test and determine if their choice is appropriate.  The test quizes the kids on feeding, exercising, caring, and much more. If the child decides it is time to get a pet, pas-si-bete offers a “contract” for the new pet owner. The idea is that kids understand at an early age that love… also involves poop scooping.

This is a Swiss website offered in three national languages: French, German  and Italian.
