Picnic, strolling & rollerblading by the lake
Geneva, Switzerland – The nice weather has finally arrived and with it the masses of people strolling by the Lake Geneva shores. This past weekend, thousands of people flocked to the “quais” in Geneva to get some sun, to see and to be seen.
The Bains de Paquis has officially closed the saunas for the season, (although the hammams will stay open through the warmer months), and their swimming season (brr) will soon begin.
With the nice weather the “barcelonettes” have also arrived. The funny-named, ship-container-like outdoor refreshment mobile cafés (whew) were inspired by Catalonian models (thus the name), but minus the vibrant Spanish colors, à la Swiss.
Barcelonettes or not, strolling under the sun and sitting by the Lake, is a wonderful way to shake off the interminable Geneva-winter gray!
A new public, outdoor exhibit by the Swiss non-profit Terre des Hommes fills the quay by the museum district with colors. This half-a-mile spot is perfect for picnics and rollerblading.
Even though there are bike lines clearly marked around the Lake, riding your wheels in this area may not be an easy feat.
Strolling along with your bike though, seems to be all the rage these days.
See you at the lake?
