GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – For those of you in town celebrating Swiss National Day (see my previous post on its meaning here) you might want to head to the plain de Plainpalais to check Switzerland’s famous fighting cows, the short-legged Val d’Herens breed.
Although the “Queens” call Alpine pastures home, they’re in town for one day to inaugurate the newly-refurbished plaza staging some of their spectacular fights.
There are plenty of formal acts around the city (speeches) to celebrate the day when the Swiss confederation came together, but plenty of fun activities as well.
See the official programme here.
For Swiss National Day around Lake Geneva, see a selection of celebrations in our Events page, or check your local community webpage for more information.
Bonne fête à tous et toutes!
