Romantic couple in Yvoire
Geneva, Switzerland – After much urging from my news editor to change my GL picture, I went searching for a suitable mugshot. Among the gems I found in my personal archives were a few great studio shots, from back in the day when I was reporting for TV – pictures which don’t really suit my Geneva persona however as I am now a decade or so older. And so the search for an up-to-date glamour shot continues.
In the process I may have serendipitously found a solution to my problem.
Geneva, Switzerland – Here’s a deal for any Orange telephone customer or anyone who has a friend who’s an Orange phone customer: Two people watch a movie on any given Tuesday for the price of one. Now, that’s a deal!
The concept is simple: Pick a movie, send a text message and get one free ticket. Only one person needs to be an Orange customer.

Geneva, Switzerland – Two semi-annual kids’ consignment sales are taking place in the Lake Geneva region this weekend 17 and 18 April.
This is a fun, smart way to buy and sell (although it is now too late to register as a seller) kids’ toys, clothes, baby and sports equipment, books, DVDs and even some pregnancy clothes.
Geneva, Switzerland - I said it a year ago, and I’ll say it again: GenevaLunch is one of my favorite websites! Why the fanaticism? One simple reason; great insights and local tips for living in the Lake Geneva Region.
In 2009 I wrote about a great deal I found on the GenevaLunch resources page, later confirmed by friends and local resource gurus Nunzio and Imane: the assiette Genevoise card. With this card, two people can eat for the price of one at a range of Geneva restaurants.
Now that’s a deal!
Geneva, Switzerland – What do you get if you mix: Local produce, food shopping, the internet and a bicycle? Before I answer this question, I have to say it came to my mind after reading my colleague’s (Jonell) blog about cardoons being in season. It reminded me of three things: Read more…
Geneva, Switzerland – One of the first things we did when we arrived in Geneva was to buy a Carte Junior which gave our 8 year-old free rides on all public transport systems in Switzerland for one year! That is a bargain a parent cannot pass up.
Geneva, Switzerland - We all know Geneva is expensive but there are many ways to save here and there, especially when it comes to the younger ones in the family. And if you live further out, and have teenagers, you should be aware of one of the best bargains around.

Geneva, Switzerland – Take the bus, boat, train or tram to go to the movies and don’t pay for additional transportation costs. That’s the deal offered by Canton Geneva’s Public Transport System (Unireso), and the Pathé theaters.
The offer is good on Mondays only and in Canton Geneva.
Update: For the 2010 edition read: The Paquis fleamarket 2010 in danger
Geneva, Switzerland – The mother of all neighborhood flea markets is back, or better said, never went away. That’s right, we are talking about the Paquis flea market. Previously in New To Geneva? Me Too, we mentioned the famous Fetes de Rues, also known as the La Ville est a Vous and how this year these parties did not include the ever so big and notorious Paquis event.
The Paquis flea market will be taking place after all on 19 and 20 September but not under the City banner of La Ville est a vous but under the name: La Rue est a vous.
Although the above title seems contradictory there are a few ways to economize if you are one of those people who loves to go often to the movie theater in Geneva and Vaud.
