LANCY, CANTON GENEVA – There is giant “Hole” at Villa Bernasconi in Lancy, canton Geneva: “Le Trou“. Such is the name of the exhibit that gathers several artists whose interpretation of “the space between” take visitors through abstract spaces.
Because art is better seen than explained, see below what we are talking about. The video created by local TV station Leman Blue includes some of the interesting performance art showcased during the exhibit.
Exhibit runs daily to 16 September, from 12:00 to 18:00 with a cash bar on the weekend. And, did I say it is free?

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Nuit des Bains is here, in other words, time to hit the streets, see some art and lots of beautiful people.
The popular Geneva gallery crawl -which includes thirteen galleries and four contemporary arts centres in the heart of Geneva’s quartier de bains- is the place where many Genevans meet. I’d dare say it is Geneva’s version of Fashion’s Night Out, except that instead of clothing stores, it is galleries that host parties.
13 September is the last Nuit for the year, next rendez-vous is in May 2013.
If you have never been to one of these art-meets-fashion-meets-cool eves, read my previous post. Remember to download the programme before heading out… and enjoy Geneva at its finest!

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Department of Culture of the city of Geneva and the Simon I. Patino Foundation will soon be closing applications for their annual Arts in Paris grants.
The Foundation and the city of Geneva pair up annually to grant scholarships to young artists to enable them to undertake studies, courses or carryout research work in Paris.
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Calling all crooners and songstresses who dream of being discovered! The Television Suisse Romande, TSR, is gearing up for what can be described as the Swiss version of “American Idol” by calling all vocalists out there for videotaped auditions in the upcoming weeks.
“We are looking for amateurs, not professionals singers. This casting is open to individual performers, not to groups. All phases of the casting will be filmed,” says the public invite sent by the TSR.
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – This 19 and 20 November, from 11:00 to 18:00, there is something to do in Geneva, art, art and more … champagne?
An opportunity to explore exhibitions, art spaces, meet gallery owners and artists in a less frenetic than in Nuits des Bains, but also in the quartier des bains!
This weekend only.
See the schedule and activities.
And see all the activities I found around Lake Geneva for this weekend in GenevaLunch’s event page.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Cern’s new experiment in arts and science is a 3-year artist’s residency programme initiated by the laboratory.
One of the programmes, offered to dancers, is sponsored by the city and canton of Geneva.
Some of the grants, given to artists in various disciplines, range from 3-months to 3-years.
What is really interesting is that grant winners will work with Cern scientists to develop art that uses science.
Geneva, Switzerland – Three times a year art and beautiful people mix in Geneva during the Nuit des Bains.
Thirteen galleries and four contemporary arts centres in the heart of Geneva’s quartier de bains open their doors simultaneously and host parties for all visitors (not just for prospective buyers).
The Quartier des Bains Association organizes the tri-annual Nuits des Bains on the third Thursday of March, May and September.
Art lovers, students, serious collectors and neighbors can enjoy a free glass of wine at several galleries along the crawl, which begins at 18:00. (The crawl unofficially ends in the pubs of the neighborhood way past midnight.)
