Roger Federer won his home tournament in Basel for the third time in a row with a 6-3 6-4 display in which he did not permit his Argentinian opponent, David Nalbandian, a single break point. Basel, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Swiss tennis star, Roger Federer, has made it to quarterfinals at the Davidoff Swiss indoors. However, according to some sports critics, “strangely out of sorts” and barely “surviving” the game.

Basel, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Roger Federer is at home and plays like it. Federer was the star of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors tournament 22 October. The Swiss beat American Bobby Reynolds 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3. Federer is the defending champion of the tournament.

Zurich, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Swiss tennis star, Patty Schneider, has been eliminated from the Zurich open at a very early stage. Schneider lost to Czech teenager Petra Kvitova 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Schneider who won her 11th title in Bali says it was a difficult match: ”In the second set I moved the ball a little better than the rest of the match, then she came back with winners. I couldn’t make it difficult enough for her.”

Madrid, Spain (GenevaLunch) - Switzerland will play the United States in the next round of the Davis Cup, 6-8 March 2009. The match will be played in the US. The draw for the 2009 matches, in Madrid today, has Spain playing Serbia, which means that Rafael Nadal will be up against Novak Djokovic.

Madrid, Spain (GenevaLunch)Switzerland beat Belgium 4-1 to secure their place in the 16-team elite World Group for next season. Rafael Nadal was in superb form as he led Spain to victory over the USA in the Davis Cup semi-final.
