(Le Temps, Fr) – The latest batch of elusive tickets for Switzerland’s Euro 2008 football games are made available from tomorrow. Just 5,600 tickets for each of the host nation’s three matches being played at Basel in June will be sold to people who apply between 12:00 tomorrow and 12:00 on Saturday 16 February.
Demand will be much greater than supply and there is a limit of four tickets per person. Priority will be given to fans who can prove they have attended eight of Switzerland’s matches played since the 2006 World Cup. The remaining tickets will be allocated in a lottery with winners told by April.
Switzerland’s opponents will be the Czech Republic, Turkey and
Portugal. Those three nations will play each other in Geneva and tickets for the games will be sold by each national football
association. The tournament organiser, UEFA, is supplying each host city with a further 240
tickets for each match to sell or give away to residents.
With six of the eight stadiums in Switzerland and Austria holding just 30,000 people, many fans are being disappointed in their search for a ticket. In Germany, nearly two million applications have been made online for their new batch of 15,000 tickets.
