GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Nineteen days until Christmas and we would normally hesitate to say it will be a white one, but with the amount of snow already here and more on the way, we’re betting on a White Christmas. MeteoSwiss Thursday noon issued its new forecast, and it’s time to equip yourself with shovels, snowblowers, hats and gloves, for more snow is on the way.
Fresh snowfalls are expected in two waves, the first starting Friday afternoon, with snow down to the plain and high winds on the north side of the Alps. Winds should drop Friday night, but the second wave of snow will arrive during the night of Friday to Saturday.
Snowfall forecast: 10-20cm on the plain, 30cm in the Jura, 20-30 at higher altitudes, with more than 30cm in the lower Valais (around Martigny).
