BERN, SWITZERLAND – Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter is joining European Union foreign ministers in Rome Wednesday night 27 February for a working dinner with the new US Secretary of State, John Kerry.
Kerry has been in the job since 1 February and he is currently on his first trip abroad in that role.
Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi extended the invitation. The dinner, to which Nato officials have also been invited, will “enable participants to have an initial exchange of views on international politics with the new Secretary of State” says Bern. The governing Federal Council, of which Burkhalter is a member, says that “during his visit [Kerry] plans to reaffirm the importance of transatlantic relations and to review the main international questions with his discussion partners.”
