GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / BOOK MY PLACE – If you were excited by Bloodlines – Touch Not the Cat you will be delighted with the sequel which is to appear in April. However, Bloodlines – Traces stands on its own, it is perhaps just that little bit more enjoyable if you remember the mystery of the disappearance of the laird, Gordon Macpherson in Touch Not the Cat.
Traces moves back and forwards through time. We meet Katherine Macpherson, the laird’s granddaughter, in 1895 when her child is coming into the world and about to be adopted by her childless brother, so that she can continue her education. We share the secret that the father is Alexander Stewart, the gamekeeper’s son, who has been summarily packed off to America by the laird.
We leap forward 116 years to another Cathy Macpherson and another Stewart who are attempting to patch together a failing marriage by a genealogy quest which takes us back to Ballindalloch Castle, the scene of the laird’s mysterious disappearance all those years before.
There is a brief and tragic visit to the Dardanelles and a visit to a distillery as well as an intriguing death on a train, but the real excitement comes when Cathy pieces all the clues together and understands her real identity. Can you resist it? This sequel to Bloodlines, Touch Not the Cat will be published in April.
