Switzerland (Le Temps, Fre) – The controversial election campaign black sheep poster for the right-wing UDC (People’s Party) that provoked outrage inside and outside Switzerland is gone. In place of the sheep the party has put a smiling Christophe Blocher, cabinet minister and party leader, standing in front of a Swiss flag. A poster change was planned, party officials told Le Temps, but it is not clear that Blocher as leader was expected to appear on new posters. The shift, argues the paper, shows and not for the first time, the party’s ability to adapt quickly to changing temperatures in the heated electoral campaigns. Switzerland holds federal elections in mid-October.
